Digital supply-chain specialist Blue Yonder named longtime software industry executive Duncan Angove chief executive as owner Panasonic Holdings Corp. prepares its retail technology business for a potential public stock listing.

Mr. Angove, a former president of enterprise software provider Infor, succeeds Mark Morgan, who had been Blue Yonder’s interim CEO since the departure of Girish Rishi, who left the company this year following Panasonic’s acquisition of the business.

Panasonic bought Blue Yonder last year for $7.1 billion in a deal announced in April and completed in September. Panasonic said the acquisition of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Blue Yonder, which counts major retailers among its customers for its digital supply-chain and e-commerce fulfillment software, would help the Japan-based business bring digital services to its industrial electronics and technology operations.

Panasonic made Blue Yonder an anchor of its supply-chain-management software business, called Panasonic Connect, and said in May it was preparing the operation for a potential public stock listing. “It was decided that based on the business characteristics and market environment, a stock exchange listing of the [supply-chain management] business would be the optimal way to accelerate growth globally by utilizing the capital markets,” the company said in a May 11 statement.

It said details of the possible listing, including the exchange location, hadn’t been decided.

Mr. Angove was on the management team that took retail technology company Retek public in 1999 and later general manager of the retail business unit at Oracle Corp. , when the software giant bought Retek in 2005. He was also a co-founder and managing partner of tech-focused private-equity firm Arcspring.

“We’re confident that Duncan’s proven track record growing companies such as Infor, Oracle and Retek, as well as his supply chain experience and working with customers, makes him the right leader to take Blue Yonder’s growth and innovation to the next level,” said Yasu Higuchi, CEO of Panasonic Connect and the chairperson of Blue Yonder’s board.
